What Does Nehemiah 10:38 Mean?

The covenant orders the handling of the tithes. A priest of Aaron's line was to accompany the Levites as they gathered the people's tithes, and the Levites in turn would set aside a tenth of all they received and bring it to the temple treasury.

Even those who received the people's gifts were themselves to give. The Levites tithed from their tithes, and a priest's oversight guarded the whole process with accountability and integrity. God's house was to be supplied honestly and openly, for the handling of sacred gifts is itself a sacred trust.
