What Does Nehemiah 11:12 Mean?

Beyond the leading priests, 822 of their kinsmen did the daily work of the temple. The register then names Adaiah and his ancestry, another head among the serving priests.

The labor of worship required many hands, from the chief priest to the hundreds who served unseen. Their large number shows a temple alive with activity, and reminds us that the service of God is sustained by faithful, often unnamed, work carried out day by day.
