What Does Nehemiah 11:21 Mean?
The Nethinim, servants who assisted the Levites in the temple's labor, lived in Ophel, the ridge just south of the temple area, under the oversight of Ziha and Gispa.
Even the lowliest temple workers had their place, their dwelling, and their leaders. That they lived close to the temple fit their service. Their inclusion in the record shows that in God's house no faithful servant is overlooked, however humble the task.
