Nehemiah 7:27 Meaning and Explanation

The men of Anathoth are recorded as one hundred twenty-eight. This was a priestly town, the home of the prophet Jeremiah, now resettled by the returned. The enrollment by place continues.

Anathoth had heard the warnings of judgment from one of its own sons; now it is named among the restored. The places that knew sorrow are gathered again into the life of the people. The reader sees that God's mercy reaches even the towns once marked by prophecy and grief, bringing them home.
