What Does Obadiah 1:17 Mean?
After verses of judgment, a turning word arrives: But upon mount Zion. Where the nations drink ruin, Zion receives deliverance. The mountain that was profaned becomes a place set apart as holy, and the house of Jacob will once again possess what is rightfully theirs.
This is the hope at the heart of the book. God does not end with destruction but with restoration for His people. The promise of deliverance and holiness on Zion points the reader forward to the salvation God provides, a rescue that is not earned by might but given by grace. After the long night of judgment, God speaks recovery and an inheritance restored.
