What Does Philippians 1:11 Mean?
Paul completes his prayer with its goal: lives full of the fruits of righteousness. He is careful to name the source, these come by Jesus Christ, and the end, the glory and praise of God.
Righteousness here is not a cold rule-keeping but something living and fruitful, the visible harvest of a heart joined to Christ. Such fruit does not grow from our own strength; it comes through him, as a branch bears fruit only by the life of the vine. And its purpose reaches beyond our own benefit, toward God's glory. A life filled with goodness that flows from Christ and points back to God is the very thing Paul prays for these believers, and a fitting prayer for any of us.
