Paul thanks the Philippians for their financial gift and assures them that the God they gave to will abundantly provide for them.
What Does Philippians 4:19 Mean?
In one sentence: God promises to meet every genuine need of His people out of His own limitless riches in Christ. Paul says "need," not every want -- and the supply is measured "according to his riches," not according to our scarcity.
The promise comes to a generous church that had given sacrificially to Paul; he assures them God will not be in their debt. Provision flows "by Christ Jesus" -- through relationship with Him, not as a transaction.
In the Original Language
The Greek "pleroo" (supply) means to fill up completely. "Chreia" (need) is genuine necessity. "Ploutos" (riches) is God's limitless wealth in glory.
