Here the encirclement becomes vivid: enemies are like bees—numerous, coordinated, and aggressive, buzzing in from all sides with intent to sting. The image captures both their number and their organized fury. Yet the psalm immediately shifts the image to their fate: they are quenched like the fire of thorns. This recalls the rapid, bright burn of thorny brush—intense but brief, consuming itself quickly and leaving nothing. The enemies' violent energy, though fierce, is ultimately temporary and self-consuming.
