What Does Revelation 1:3 Mean?
Here is the first of seven blessings in the book. In John's day a letter would be read aloud to a gathered congregation, so the verse names both the one who reads and the many who hear. The blessing rests not only on listening but on keeping, on letting the words shape how one lives. The reason given is urgency: the time is at hand.
This is more than information to be admired; it is a prophecy to be obeyed. The promised happiness belongs to those who treasure these words and act on them.
