What Does Revelation 11:18 Mean?
The song widens to take in the whole reckoning. The nations were angry, but now God's wrath has come, the time for the dead to be judged, for His servants the prophets and saints and all who fear His name, small and great, to be rewarded, and for those who destroy the earth to be destroyed. The raging of the nations meets the settled justice of God.
Two sides of that justice stand together. God remembers and rewards everyone who has feared His name, the least no less than the greatest, and He brings to an end those who have ruined His good creation and oppressed His people. No faithful service is forgotten, and no wrong goes unanswered. This is steadying assurance: the Lord's judgment is neither careless nor partial, and His servants will not have hoped in vain.
