What Does Revelation 2:19 Mean?
The Lord begins, as always, with "I know." He lists a fullness of virtues in Thyatira: love, service, faith, and patient endurance. More than that, their later works exceed their first, a growing rather than cooling devotion. This is the very opposite of Ephesus, who had left their first love.
Here is a church whose love is deepening with time, whose service and faith are bearing more fruit, not less. The Lord notices growth and honors it. A faith that increases, that serves more and loves more as the years pass, gladdens the heart of Christ. Yet even genuine growth, as the next verses show, does not excuse tolerated sin. The Lord praises fully and corrects honestly.
