What Does Revelation 6:1 Mean?
John has just watched heaven worship the Lamb who alone was found worthy to take the sealed scroll from the hand of the One on the throne. Now the unveiling begins. As the first seal breaks, a sound like thunder rolls out, and one of the four living creatures around the throne calls, 'Come and see.'
Notice who opens the seals. History does not unwind by blind chance or hostile powers; it is the slain and risen Lamb who breaks each seal. Even the hard things John is about to witness move under His hand. To follow that summons, 'Come and see,' is to look at the whole turning of the ages and find Christ at its center, holding it open.
