What Does Romans 10:2 Mean?
Paul speaks as a witness who knows this zeal from the inside, for he once shared it. He grants what is genuinely admirable: a passionate devotion to God that few possess. Yet he names the missing piece with care. Their earnestness is real, but it is not joined to the knowledge that would direct it rightly.
Zeal alone is not enough; sincerity can run hard in the wrong direction. The heart on fire still needs the light of truth to guide its steps. This verse guards us on two sides: it refuses to despise honest devotion, and it refuses to treat devotion as a substitute for knowing God as He has made Himself known. Both warmth and truth belong together in a life that pleases Him.
