This verse stands as the hinge of Paul's argument. The word translated 'end' carries the sense of goal or destination as well as completion; the law was always pointing forward, and Christ is where it was always leading. Everything the law required and foreshadowed finds its fulfillment in Him.
What the law could describe but not produce, Christ supplies. He brings righteousness to all who believe, and the reach of that promise is sweeping: 'every one.'
