What Does Zechariah 14:3 Mean?
After the bitter picture of the captured city comes the great reversal: "Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations." The same God who gathered the nations now turns to fight them. The comparison "as when he fought in the day of battle" recalls Israel's history, the Red Sea and the conquest, when the LORD himself was Israel's warrior and won battles his people could not win.
