What Does Zechariah 8:18 Mean?
This short line marks a new revelation, much like the opening verse of the chapter. It prepares the way for God's direct answer to the earlier question about whether the people should keep mourning the destruction of the temple with their seasons of fasting.
God responds to the honest questions His people bring Him. The repeated coming of His word shows a Lord who is attentive and communicative, not distant or silent. When a community sincerely seeks to know His will, He does not leave them guessing. The very rhythm of these introductions reassures the reader that heaven is listening and that an answer is on its way.
