Romans 8

Kids’ lesson · about 4 minutes

The big idea

Nothing at all can ever pull you away from God’s love - He holds you and never lets go.

The story

This part of Paul’s letter is one of the most wonderful parts in the whole Bible. It is full of good news, like a basket full of presents. Paul says that God’s own Spirit lives inside everyone who belongs to Jesus. And the Spirit helps us call God something amazing: “Father.” That means we are God’s very own children. We belong in His family forever. Then Paul asks the biggest question of all. Is there anything - anything at all - that could ever pull us away from God’s love? And he answers with a great big shout of joy. “I am absolutely sure,” he says. Not scary days. Not sad days. Not the highest sky or the deepest sea. Not even one single thing in all the world can ever, ever separate us from God’s love. His love holds on and never lets go. So when you feel small, or scared, or all alone, remember this: God is holding you. And His grip never slips. Nothing can take you out of His hands.

Memory verse

Nothing at all can ever separate us from God’s love. That love is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39 (NIRV)

A big word: Forever

For always and always, with no end. God’s love for you does not run out and does not stop. It lasts forever and ever.

Talk together

Try this — Held tight

Hold a small toy or a coin tightly in your fist. Now ask your grown-up to gently try to take it - keep holding on! See how you do not let go? That is how God holds you, only much, much stronger. Nothing can pull you out of His hands. Give your grown-up a big hug and say it together: “Nothing can separate us from God’s love!”

You’ll need: A small toy or coin

Pray together

Dear God, Thank You that I am Your child and I belong in Your family forever. Thank You that nothing - nothing at all - can ever pull me away from Your love. When I feel scared, help me remember that You are holding me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
