A Woman Cries Out in a Crowd
As Jesus teaches, a woman in the crowd calls out a blessing on the mother who bore him, and he answers that blessed are those who hear God's word and keep it (Luke 11). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his life of Christ.

French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
