As the sun sets, the whole town of Capernaum crowds to the door where Jesus is staying, and he lays his hands on the sick and casts out demons (Luke 4). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his life of Christ.

French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
