Arriving at the well in Haran, Jacob rolls away the stone to water Laban's flock and weeps as he greets his kinswoman Rachel (Genesis 29). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his illustrated Old Testament.

French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
