On a mountainside by the Sea of Galilee, great crowds lay the lame, blind, and mute at Jesus' feet, and he heals them as the people glorify God (Matthew 15). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his life of Christ.

French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
