As the women hurry from the empty tomb, the risen Jesus meets them on the way and they fall down to take hold of his feet and worship him (Matthew 28). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his life of Christ.

French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
