The Songs of Joy (Song of Moses)
After the sea closes over Pharaoh's army, Moses and the people of Israel sing to the Lord their song of deliverance, with Miriam leading the women in dance (Exodus 15). A gouache on board by the French painter James Tissot.

Depicted passages
French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
