In the temple courts Jesus drives out the merchants and money-changers, overturning their tables and declaring his Father's house a house of prayer (Matthew 21). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his life of Christ.

French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
