The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple
Brought to the temple to be presented to the Lord, the infant Jesus is taken into the arms of the aged Simeon, who blesses God for the salvation he has seen (Luke 2). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his life of Christ.

Depicted passages
French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
