The Resurrection of the Widow's Son at Nain
Meeting a funeral procession at the gate of Nain, Jesus has compassion on the grieving widow and tells her dead son to arise, giving him back to his mother (Luke 7). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his life of Christ.

French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
