A sower goes out to scatter his seed, which falls on the path, on rocky ground, among thorns, and on good soil that yields a hundredfold (Matthew 13). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his life of Christ.

Depicted passages
French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
