The Swine Driven into the Sea
When Jesus casts the demons out of the men of the Gadarenes, they enter a herd of swine that rushes down the steep bank and is drowned in the sea (Matthew 8). A watercolor by the French painter James Tissot, from his life of Christ.

French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
