    Paul’s language echoes what will come: the tender identification of Christ with the beloved. Jesus does not stand apart from His people; He takes their burdens, their shame, their debt upon Himself. He refreshes their bowels - their deepest selves - with His love. Philemon has tasted this love. Paul reminds him he has tasted it so that he will extend it to another.
