Faith Lutheran Church

About this church

Faith Lutheran Church is an ELCA congregation at First Avenue and Mangrove in Chico, describing itself as a community reflecting God’s love with a place at the table for everyone. Worship, Communion, groups, service, music, and art are presented as open invitations rather than members-only activities. Its family ministry welcomes households of varied backgrounds and compositions. Community outreach includes hands-on work addressing food, safety, and shelter, and the church hosts a walk-up or drive-up food distribution that requires no identification or paperwork.

Sunday worship begins at 9:30 a.m. both in person and online, followed by an in-person coffee hour. Adult education classes typically meet Sunday at 11:00 on Zoom, but the church directs participants to the events page because the topics and dates vary. The pastor’s Bible study meets Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. to examine the coming Sunday’s readings, their historical context, and how Lutheran interpretive practices connect Scripture with present community concerns. Food distribution takes place on the first and third Fridays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Visitors seeking worship can rely on the Sunday hour; those coming for assistance or a class should use the corresponding ministry schedule.
