The Refinery Church

About this church

The Refinery Church gathers at 494 E Street in Chula Vista for Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m. The visitor guide describes contemporary music led by a live team, relevant and challenging teaching, and a warm, diverse congregation spanning ages and cultural and economic backgrounds. Dress ranges from jeans and shorts to slacks and dresses, with comfort taking priority. The church is affiliated with American Baptist Churches USA and describes its particular identity as evangelical, spiritually renewed, and open to Christ-centered fellowship across denominational lines.

Staffed children's classes include infants and toddlers, preschool and kindergarten, and grades one through five. Elementary children begin in the main service with their families for worship before being dismissed for class. Students in grades 6–12 follow a similar Sunday pattern, joining worship at 10:30 and moving to the youth center around 11:00; youth also gather on Wednesday nights. The Refinery's mission connects personal transformation with work in the community and wider world, while its values emphasize authentic relationships, healthy families, welcome, joy, and spiritual growth. For a first visit, the practical picture is contemporary worship, casual clothing, family participation at the start, and age-specific teaching later in the morning.
