SOMA Church Community

About this church

SOMA Church Community meets at 10:00 a.m. Sunday on Sonoma Avenue in downtown Santa Rosa. The gathering combines worship music, Bible study focused on Jesus, and encouragement to respond by loving God and people. The congregation describes itself as casual in both atmosphere and clothing, with adults ranging across several decades of life. SOMA is affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America, connecting its local independence to a shared evangelical statement of faith.

Sunday School runs during worship for children from age two through fifth grade, divided into age-appropriate groups. Ignite 5:8 gives fifth- through eighth-graders a monthly connection point, while service projects place members in practical work around Santa Rosa and Sonoma County. The church calendar gathers these activities alongside worship and community events, making it the best place to see what is active in a given month. SOMA's size and tone appear designed for people who value a relational, straightforward church without a formal dress culture. A first visit requires little advance preparation: arrive before 10:00, use children's check-in if needed, and expect music, biblical teaching, and a strong emphasis on knowing one another.
