About this church
Bethany Lutheran Church's regular Sunday schedule offers worship at 9 a.m., in person and on YouTube, and a second in-person service at 10:30 a.m. During summer, those gatherings combine into one 9:30 a.m. service with an online option, followed by Fellowship Hour at 10:30. Worship is recognizably Lutheran but makes room for creativity and reflection through choir, vocalists, instruments, the Carlson Memorial pipe organ, Scripture, prayer, and preaching connected to daily life. Attire ranges from casual to dress clothes. Bethany practices open Communion: all are invited, children may receive with caregiver guidance, and gluten-free bread and nonalcoholic drink are available.
From August through May, Sunday School students begin in their classrooms at 9 a.m. and join the congregation for the children's sermon midway through worship; the program pauses for summer. Luther Hall hosts coffee and conversation between the regular services. The downtown congregation traces its beginning to Swedish Lutheran founders in 1923. Its present campus includes a sanctuary, fellowship and education spaces, a preschool, music and youth rooms, a community room, and the pipe organ installed during a 2002 expansion. Service opportunities extend to neighbors, the congregation, and global mission. Before a first visit, contact the church for details the official pages do not provide, including parking, step-free entrances, nursery care, assistive listening, service duration, and how often Communion is celebrated.
