Second Baptist Church of Elgin

About this church

Second Baptist Church of Elgin holds adult and youth Sunday School beginning at 9 a.m., followed by worship at 10 in person and online. Children's Church for ages six through twelve also begins at 10 and can be joined onsite or through Zoom. The official homepage says the adult class ends at 9:45, while the visitor page says 9:30; adults should confirm the current duration, although both agree on the start. Weekly Zoom Bible study is Wednesday at 7 p.m., and “Wonderful Wednesday” adds an in-person service at 7 on the first Wednesday of each month.

Serving the Fox Valley area for more than 154 years, Second Baptist describes Sunday worship as spirited, music-rich, and welcoming. More than thirty ministries include nursery, children, ELEVATE youth, young adults, singles, couples, veterans, music ensembles, dance, step teams, audiovisual service, Scripture reading, and ushering. The church's public values call it relational, evangelistic, adoptive, and loving, with Scripture at the center of services. Families can combine the 9 a.m. education hour with parallel adult worship and Children's Church at 10. People planning a Wednesday visit should distinguish the weekly online study from the once-monthly onsite service, even though both begin at the same hour.
