Trinity United Methodist Church

About this church

At Trinity United Methodist Church, in-person Sunday worship begins at 10:30 a.m. in the historic sanctuary at 509 North Street in downtown Lafayette. A separate online gathering, Trinity Connect, meets on Zoom from 9:15 to 10. The in-person service blends hymns led by pipe organ with contemporary choruses from the piano, while Scripture-centered preaching connects faith with daily life. A hearing loop and portable receivers support guests who need listening assistance, and the church can arrange Sunday bus pickup through its office.

Nursery care is provided by trained, background-checked attendants, and children age three and older may leave partway through worship for games, a Bible story, crafts, and other activities. Quiet hands-on materials are also available at an activity table in the sanctuary. Trinity is both a Welcoming and Reconciling congregation, explicitly extending its welcome across age, race, culture, gender, sexual orientation or identity, economic condition, and physical or mental ability. Its Lafayette story began with meetings in the old log courthouse in 1824; the present sanctuary was completed in 1873 and retains historic stained glass. Newcomers can therefore choose the online conversation or the main downtown service, arriving early to ask an usher about accessibility, nursery care, or children's worship.
