United Methodist Church of Hempstead

About this church

United Methodist Church of Hempstead begins Sunday Bible study at 8:30 a.m., morning worship and Sunday School at 10, and Spanish-language worship at 12:30 p.m. The adult Chancel Choir supports worship throughout the year, with no musical audition required, while the Sounds of Praise Choir teaches children ages five through twelve singing, sacred texts, and basic music theory. Children rehearse after morning worship and sing quarterly and during special liturgical services.

The congregation calls itself a safe place for all people and seeks to become a loving, compassionate, diverse body of Christ strengthening families and the surrounding community through nurture, outreach, and witness. Its building serves neighborhood organizations during the week, including the Boys and Girls Club, Girl Scouts, a seniors program, and Centro Salvadoreño. Women's ministry has supported a domestic-violence safe home with clothing and pajamas, while men's ministry encourages prayer groups, missions, retreats, mentoring, Scouting, teaching, and worship leadership. Youth ministry combines fun, faith, fellowship, and active participation in church life. Newcomers needing infant care, child registration, parking, disability accommodations, Communion guidance, online access, or clothing and duration expectations should call ahead.
