About this church
East Marion Baptist Church gathers at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 660 Baldwin Avenue in Marion. Children begin in the adult service with their parents, then leave before the sermon for teaching designed for their age. Preschool care for ages one through four is available behind the sanctuary during the same hour. The children’s program uses the Gospel Project curriculum to connect individual Bible accounts with the larger Gospel story, while kids’ worship adds activities and instruction intended to keep Scripture engaging rather than treating children as passive observers.
East Marion identifies as a Gospel-centered, outreach-oriented congregation, with a vision of seeing God’s kingdom spread through worship, proclamation, and practical love for neighbors. Its location in an area affected by poverty and addiction shapes a particular focus on people who are poor or seeking recovery. Stated values include Bible-centered teaching, dependence expressed through prayer, unity on essentials with freedom on secondary matters, and love across disagreement. The church’s beliefs follow a Baptist understanding of Scripture, the Trinity, salvation, and Christian discipleship. Its ministry pages also identify preschool, teen, benevolence, Stephen Ministry, and Celebrate Recovery pathways, giving visitors several ways to move from Sunday worship toward care or service. For a first Sunday, parents can come a few minutes early to find the preschool rooms and ask when older children leave the sanctuary.
