First United Methodist Church of Marion

About this church

First United Methodist Church of Marion begins adult Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11. Coffee is available before the education hour, giving visitors an informal opportunity to meet the pastor and congregation. Parking lies beside and behind the Robert Street church, with the closest rear spaces reserved for guests, people with mobility restrictions, and adults carrying young children. Ushers at the doors can direct newcomers to the nursery, classrooms, restrooms, sanctuary, and fellowship area.

The congregation describes worship as sharing God's story of love and mercy and ministry as using personal gifts in service to others. Children and youth participate in music, Scripture, skits, crafts, games, meals, fellowship, and service projects, with some events explicitly open to the wider community. Seasonal worship includes chapel, sanctuary, and ecumenical gatherings, so those special dates should be distinguished from the stable 11 a.m. Sunday schedule. The public site also shows Bible-study opportunities, pastoral coffee conversations, and support for widows and widowers, although event dates naturally change. A first-time household can arrive for coffee and Sunday School or come closer to worship; those needing step-free access should use the rear parking guidance and ask an usher for the best entrance rather than navigating the historic building alone.
