First United Methodist Church of Wilson

About this church

First United Methodist Church of Wilson offers two distinct worship styles alongside children, youth, weekday school, music, small groups, prayer, and mission. Its outreach includes building beds for local children, supporting food and shelter organizations, seasonal collections, and United Methodist volunteer projects. Open Communion reflects the congregation’s invitation to people who love Christ and seek to live in peace with one another.

Sunday contemporary worship begins at 9:00 a.m. in Asbury Hall with a praise band, while traditional worship begins at 11:00 in the sanctuary with choir, organ, and piano; both stream on YouTube and Facebook. Quarterly fifth Sundays replace that pattern with one combined 10:00 service. During the school year, Children’s Church for ages four through fifth grade operates at both normal services, nursery care runs from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and children’s and youth groups meet most Sundays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Parking is available behind the church from Pine Street, with limited Green Street spaces and Sunday use of the school-board lot across the street. Visitors should check whether their date is a fifth Sunday before choosing 9:00 or 11:00.
