Newtown Friends Meeting

About this church

Newtown Friends Meeting gathers for Meeting for Worship at 10:00 a.m., with childcare and a Zoom link listed on the congregation’s homepage. Worship follows the Quaker practice of gathering in expectant silence, opening to God’s presence and guidance; spoken ministry may emerge from that shared listening. This is notably different from a sermon-and-music service, so a newcomer benefits from knowing that silence is the central form rather than an empty pause. The after-worship social hour offers conversation once Meeting concludes.

The Worship and Ministry Committee supports the spiritual life of individuals and the gathered community, coordinates special Easter and Christmas Eve services, arranges memorial meetings, and periodically leads worship at Chandler Hall. Peace and Service work includes environmental action, peace, racial and social justice, equity, education, and local action. Members also volunteer with audiovisual support, childcare, and hospitality. For someone seeking Quaker worship in Bucks County, Newtown Friends offers a clearly published weekly Meeting, remote access, childcare, and a community whose committees connect inward spiritual nurture with public service. Check the homepage for outdoor worship or other dated seasonal additions.
