Welborne United Methodist Church

About this church

Welborne United Methodist Church is an affirming Protestant congregation in Richmond’s West End, on Maybeury Drive in Henrico County. It describes itself as a community rooted in local presence, scholarship, justice, and reconciliation, making room for both deep faith and honest doubt. Sunday worship is only one part of that identity: Welborne operates a long-standing Christian preschool, hosts study and conversation, and participates in neighborhood support. Its community food pantry opens Monday evenings, while a small outdoor pantry remains available around the clock. The church treats newcomers as people who already bring gifts, questions, time, and experience the community needs.

Sunday worship begins at 10:00 a.m. Nursery care for infants and toddlers opens at 9:00. Children in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade begin in the sanctuary for a children’s moment and then move to story-, art-, and Scripture-based programming; youth in grades five through twelve gather separately on Sunday afternoons for meals, service, and conversation. Volunteers are background-checked and trained under United Methodist Safe Sanctuaries practices. The campus address is 920 Maybeury Drive, Richmond, Virginia 23229. Welborne is particularly suited to visitors seeking an inclusive United Methodist church with structured child-safety policies, curiosity-friendly formation, and visible local service through food access and early childhood education.
