Nativity Lutheran Church

About this church

Nativity Lutheran Church worships Sundays at 11:00 a.m. at 6905 West Bluemound Road in Wauwatosa. The service follows the Lutheran liturgical calendar, moving through seasons such as Advent, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost, with Scripture readings appointed for each Sunday. Proclamation of the Word and Holy Communion stand at the center. Parts of the liturgy, including the psalm, are chanted, and the congregation sings both ancient and modern hymns.

Music is more than a generic label here: Nativity’s three-manual Verlinden pipe organ began with 24 ranks in 1967 and now contains 29 ranks and 1,944 pipes. The church publishes a preview of the coming Sunday’s readings and hymns, so a visitor can understand the day’s theme before arriving. Dress is informal and there is no dress code. Nativity also describes itself as pet-friendly, welcoming animals that can remain composed in a group setting, and explicitly invites questions about worship, beliefs, or how someone might fit in. Those details create a particularly vivid first-visit picture—traditional Lutheran structure, substantial organ music, current service notes, comfortable clothing, and an unusually broad welcome that can include a well-behaved pet.
