St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church

About this church

St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa follows a seasonal worship schedule. During the school year, services are held Sundays at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m., with Sunday school and education from 9:45 to 10:45 and coffee between services. Summer moves to a single 9:30 service. Holy Communion is celebrated at every service, and worship is livestreamed and archived. The ELCA congregation organizes its ministry around four movements—welcome, nurture, equip, and send—linking worship with learning and service.

Families can use nursery care for children from six months through age five, while school-year Sunday education serves children from age three through eighth grade. Elementary classes use a rotational model, middle school includes confirmation, and high school ministry combines faith formation, relationships, and service. Adults will find classes, small groups, senior-adult connections, music, and mission opportunities. Visitors enter from the west side; the main lot is accessed from Wauwatosa Avenue, overflow parking is across the street from Underwood Avenue, and an elevator serves the second-floor sanctuary. Because worship changes between school-year and summer patterns, checking the homepage before driving over is essential.
