The sheet prints at full letter size and the line art is drawn with wide open areas, so younger children can colour it with crayons while an adult reads the chapter aloud.

Use it for Sunday school, midweek kids’ club, homeschool Bible time, or a family devotional at the kitchen table. It pairs with our 1 Samuel 3 kids study guide and the full 1 Samuel 3 study guide for grown-ups. You can also read 1 Samuel 3 before you start colouring.
Read and talk about 1 Samuel 3
Samuel first mistakes God’s call for Eli’s voice. Eli helps him recognize what is happening and respond; read the dialogue in 1 Samuel 3 and let children practice the words of Samuel’s reply.
- Why does Samuel keep going to Eli?
- How does Eli help Samuel learn to listen?
Practice Samuel’s response
Read 1 Samuel 3:4–10 with an adult as narrator. Let one child read Samuel’s replies and another read Eli’s instructions. Pause after verse 9, then compare Samuel’s actual response in verse 10. The lamp and Samuel lying down belong to verses 2–3; the picture’s clothing and room layout are artistic choices.
