The Romans Road

7 days|Topical

Walk the gospel as Paul lays it out in one letter. Over seven days you will trace the great arc from God's righteousness revealed, through our deep need, to the gift held out in Christ — and arrive where Paul does: settled, unafraid, and held fast by a love nothing can break.

1

The Righteousness of God

Romans 1:16-17

Paul is "not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation." Before a word is said about our sin, the road begins with God — his goodness, his faithfulness, his setting-things-right. In it "the righteousness of God" is revealed. Start here, where every honest journey starts: not with what we have done, but with who he is.

2

All Have Sinned

Romans 3:9-23

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Paul levels the ground — none of us stands above another, and none stands clear. This is not said to crush us but to free us from pretending. Only when we stop defending ourselves can mercy reach us. Let the verse be honest about you today, and notice it makes no exceptions and names no one beyond hope.

3

The Wages of Sin

Romans 6:15-23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Sin pays a wage we have earned; God offers a gift we never could. Hold the two halves of the verse together — the weight of the first makes the second shine. Whatever has had a grip on you, hear that the last word here is not death but gift, freely given.

4

God's Gift in Christ

Romans 5:1-11

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Notice the timing. Not after we cleaned ourselves up — while we were still far off. This is love that moves first. The cross is God's own answer to the wage we owed. Rest in the order of it today: he loved, he gave, he reconciled — and our part is to receive what was offered before we asked.

5

Confess and Believe

Romans 10:8-13

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." The gift is received by trusting and confessing the risen Christ — heart and mouth together, a belief so real it takes shape in how we live. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Whosoever. The door Paul describes is as wide as that word. Walk through it.

6

No Condemnation

Romans 8:1-17

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus." Now — not someday, after enough proving. For those who are in him, the verdict is already spoken. The same Spirit who raised Jesus now dwells in you, and teaches you to cry, "Abba, Father." If the old accusing voice still whispers, answer it with this verse. You are not on trial; you are received as a child, and led by the Spirit.

7

More Than Conquerors

Romans 8:31-39

"If God be for us, who can be against us?" Paul ends the road not with a rule but with a love that holds. "In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us" — not by escaping trouble, but by being carried through it. Read the final list slowly: death, life, things present, things to come. None of it can separate you from the love of God in Christ. That is where the road has been leading all along.
