1 Chronicles 1:27 Meaning and Explanation

At last the line reaches Abram, and the writer adds the great note: the same is Abraham. Here the new name God gave him is set beside the old, marking the man through whom the covenant came. The whole genealogy from Adam has been climbing toward this name.

Abraham is the hinge of the story, the one to whom God promised a land, a people, and a blessing for all nations. His renaming declared a destiny: father of a multitude.
