What Does 1 Chronicles 13:4 Mean?
The people respond with one voice. What David proposed seemed right in the eyes of all, and the congregation pledges to carry it out. The first of David's two tests, the consent of the people, is fully met.
There is real joy in a community united around restoring the worship of God. Yet the narrative quietly holds the second test in reserve; a thing right in the eyes of the people must still be done in the way the LORD has shown. Unity of desire is a gift, and it does not by itself supply the wisdom of how to proceed.
