We are now God's children, and though our future glory is not yet revealed, we will be like Him when we see Him as He is.

What Does 1 John 3:2 Mean?

John addresses his readers as beloved. Now, already, they are children of God, yet what they will become has not been fully revealed. But this much is known: when Christ appears, they shall be like Him, for they shall see Him as He is.

Our present standing is sure, and our future is glorious beyond our seeing. To behold Christ as He truly is will transform us into His likeness. This is the hope held out to God's children: not only forgiveness now but a coming day when, beholding Him, we are made like Him. John leaves the full splendor unstated, inviting us to trust the One who has already made us His own.
