We receive what we ask of God because we keep His commandments and please Him.

What Does 1 John 3:22 Mean?

John links confident prayer to obedient living. Whatever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments and do what pleases Him. A life aligned with God prays with power.

This is not a transaction earning answers, but the natural harmony between a willing heart and the Father's will. Those who walk in obedience come to desire what God desires, and so their prayers find ready answer. John encourages his readers toward a life so joined to God that asking and receiving flow together. Prayer flourishes where love and obedience make our requests one with His good purposes.
