What Does 1 Kings 18:9 Mean?
Obadiah is alarmed. To announce Elijah's return, only for the prophet to vanish again, would make Obadiah look like a liar before a furious king and could cost him his life. He pleads as one who has done no wrong to deserve such danger.
His fear is honest, and Scripture does not hide it. Even a faithful man can tremble when obedience seems to invite ruin. Yet his very protest reveals how real the threat was and how much courage faithfulness required in those days.
